Ronnie Bryan Named Citizen of the Year
Ronnie Bryan has been chosen as this year’s Citizen of the Year by the Lexington Chamber of Commerce. Each year, the
Chamber honors an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the community over the years, to thank the
individual for their help with the Chamber in its events and projects.
He has served the Lexington community for many years on the boards of many different organizations and is a
consistent volunteer at area benefits and fundraisers. He is finishing out his 4th term on the Board for the
Lexington Log Cabins as their Vice President. He served on the Board for the Lexington EDC for three terms, the
Lexington Chamber of Commerce for three terms, and the Lexington Community Enterprise Corporation for four terms. He
has served on the board for Combined Community Action, which covers a five-county area.
Ronnie also works with the Lee County Probation Department supervising community service workers who are on
probation and were used to clean-up the recently developed Lexington Park area on the loop, saving taxpayers and the
City thousands of dollars. Ronnie’s professional life has also been a series of successes. In 1993 he went to work
for ERC Properties, Inc. to manage and help build the Boxwood Place Apartments in Lexington. That company was bought
out in 2007 and the name of the apartments was changed to Savanah Park Apartments. In 1997, he was awarded Manager
of Year by the Federal Housing Authority’s Rural Rental Housing Association of Texas. In 2003 he received the Manager
of Year Award by the USDA Rural Development for Housing.
Ronnie says his greatest achievement in life was to have the honor of raising three wonderful sons who have grown up
to be very successful Christian businessmen. He has five grandchildren – two granddaughters and three grandsons with
another grandson that will join them in July – and he said, “They are the joy of my life.” Ronnie went on to say,
“Life has been great and I have been blessed a lot more than I deserve. To be honored with this award is just icing
on the cake.”
